NID PRACTICES

(Visual Storytelling, Perspective, Design Problem Solving, Metaphorical Thinking)

Task 1: Human Anatomy & Perspective Grid (20 Marks)

Q6.

Draw a worm’s-eye perspective (3-point perspective from ground level) scene depicting an street-side cobbler repair station located under a massive banyan tree in an urban Indian market.

  • Mandatory Elements:

    • Include at least two human figures interacting (e.g., the cobbler at work and a standing customer).

    • Pay strict attention to foreshortening, light source/shadows, and anatomical proportions.

    • Do not use any drawing instruments (ruler, compass, set squares).

Task 2: Sequential Visualization & Storyboarding (20 Marks)

Q7.

Illustrate a 4-frame comic strip depicting a day in the life of a single-use plastic takeaway spoon, from the moment it is manufactured to its eventual transformation or repurposing by a child into something useful.

  • Guidelines:

    • Frame 1: Production/Packaging

    • Frame 2: Utility/Consumption

    • Frame 3: Abandonment/Disposal

    • Frame 4: Creative Reuse/Re-imagining

    • Focus on emotional expressions imparted onto inanimate objects without using speech bubbles or text.

Task 3: Problem Solving & Design Empathy (15 Marks)

Q8.

Due to extreme urban space constraints, a primary school student living in a compact studio apartment needs a dedicated study setup that can completely fold away when not in use.

  • Deliverables:

    1. Sketch a 3D perspective drawing of your compact, multi-functional wall-mounted study station in its unfolded (active) state.

    2. Sketch a side-elevation drawing showing how it folds flat (stored) against the wall.

    3. Annotate 3 key mechanical features (e.g., hinges, latches, modular storage).

Task 4: Metaphorical Visual Communication (15 Marks)

Q9.

Design a black-and-white visual poster ( 15cm x 15cm) representing the concept of "Over-consumption vs. Sustainability" using only basic geometric shapes (circles, triangles, squares) and negative space.

  • Guidelines:

    • No text, letters, or words permitted.

    • Rely entirely on scale, contrast, repetition, and visual tension to convey the theme.
